In the traditional silversmithing village of Celuk - on the island of Bali - jewelry is exquisitely handcrafted - using unique and painstakingly detailed techniques - which are passed down through families for generations. Paradiso has worked closely for two decades with small families in this village. As each piece is entirely hand-fabricated - no two are exactly identical; each is an individual work of art. Each pair of handcrafted sterling silver dragonfly earrings demonstrates the artisans' incredible attention to detail. The dragonfly hangs from a hand formed French wire - and proudly displays intricate circular design work - with a tail of delicately braided wire - and tiny silver balls texturing the insect's body and wings. The dragonfly's eyes are comprised of similar detailing; small silver balls form its eyes. Paradiso's owner - Vivien Feyer - developed the dragonfly designs in co-operation with the silversmiths - laughing together as they watched the insects circling around the lush gardens by the workbenches - and playing with paper - pen - twigs and leaves until a design emerged that captured some of the delightful spirit of this much-loved village resident!
